How to Add Digital Art to Your Samsung Frame TV (2 Easy Methods)

If you’ve purchased digital artwork from my shop for your Samsung Frame TV, you’re just a few steps away from turning your screen into a beautiful piece of wall art. Whether you want to upload using your phone or a USB drive, this guide walks you through both methods—no technical skills needed.

What You’ll Need

  • A JPG file (3840×2160 pixels for best results)
  • Either a smartphone with the SmartThings app
    or a USB flash drive
  • Your Samsung Frame TV, connected to Wi-Fi (for app method)
  • A Samsung account (free and easy to create)

Method 1: Upload Using the SmartThings App

This is the most common method and gives you full control over styling, mat options, and wireless uploads.

Step 1: Download the SmartThings App

  • Get the SmartThings app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
  • Sign in with your Samsung account. Create one if you don’t have one yet.
  • Make sure your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Save the Art File

  • Download the artwork JPG to your phone’s photo gallery (or transfer it from your computer if needed).
  • My files are already sized at 3840×2160, which fits the screen perfectly.

Step 3: Upload to the TV

  1. Open SmartThings and tap your Frame TV.
  2. Tap Art Mode > Add Your Photos > Add Images.
  3. Select your image from your photo gallery and tap Save.
  4. After upload, choose your image, add a mat or no mat, and tap Set on The Frame.

Method 2: Upload Using a USB Flash Drive

This is a great option if you don’t want to use an app or don’t have your phone nearby.

Step 1: Save the File to a USB Drive

  • Plug a USB drive into your computer.
  • Copy the JPG file to the USB’s main directory (not in a folder).
  • Safely eject the USB.

Step 2: Insert USB into the Frame TV

  • Plug the USB into one of the USB ports on the back or side of your Frame TV.
  • Press the Home button on your remote.
  • Navigate to Art Mode > My Photos > USB.

Step 3: Select and Display Your Art

  • Choose your image from the list that appears.
  • Press OK to view the image.
  • You may be prompted to add it to My Collection or Set as Art.
  • You can adjust mat options and style before applying it to the screen.

FAQ – Common Questions

What’s the best file format and size?
Use a JPG file that is 3840×2160 pixels. This perfectly matches the Frame TV’s screen resolution and avoids any stretching, cropping, or distortion.

Why doesn’t my art fill the whole screen?
Make sure:

  • You selected No Mat in Art Mode.
  • The file is exactly 3840×2160 pixels.
  • You haven’t zoomed or cropped it during upload.

Can I use both methods?
Yes. You can use the app for some pieces and USB for others. Once an image is saved to My Collection, you can switch between them anytime.

Will the art stay on all the time?
The Frame TV uses a motion sensor to save energy. When no one is in the room, it turns off. It turns back on when motion is detected.

Your Samsung Frame TV is more than just a screen—it’s a digital canvas. Whether you use the SmartThings app or a USB drive, adding your favorite artwork takes only a few minutes. All the art in my shop is already sized to fit perfectly, so all you need to do is upload and enjoy.
